The project comprises the creation of a fully working theatre (in the space currently used as a school drama workshop) along with the construction of a new building to provide backstage facilities, foyer, bar and disabled access. The theatre will provide a flexible drama venue for the school and the community as well as acting as a teaching space.

The existing building is a listed mediaeval church in the historic heart of Canterbury on a site of archaeological interest including parts of the Roman city wall. The sensitive insertion of the new theatre into the existing fabric along with the carefully detailed modern extension will result in a functional and contemporary facility which is sympathetic to its neighbours and respects its historic setting.
